Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Swish Plastic drinkware range made from?

Swish Plastic glasses are manufactured from high quality Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. Tritan is an extremely strong form of plastic that is similar to real glass in terms of weight and clarity. It is ideal as a safer alternative to glass. Tritan has the same benefits as polycarbonate plastic but it is BPA free and more dishwasher durable.

This video we took running over one of our plastic champagne glasses with a full sized sedan illustrates the amazing strength of tritan:

Is tritan stronger than other plastic drinkware made from acrylic and polycarbonate?

Swish Plastic’s drinkware is made from tritan plastic which is significantly stronger than acrylic plastic. Whereas acrylic glasses are known to break and shatter easily, their tritan counterparts will easily outlast them. Tritan is equivalent in strength to polycarbonate but is ultra-dishwasher durable and does not contain the chemical component BPA which is present in polycarbonate.

This video illustrates just how strong polycarbonate is compared to acrylic plastic:

Are the glasses dishwasher safe?

Yes, Tritan glasses can withstand a harsh combination of heat, hydrolytic and chemical attack that is typical for commercial and residential dishwashers and are top-rack dishwasher safe.

Are the glasses environmentally friendly?

Swish Plastic tritan glasses are recyclable. Its copolyester is less dense than materials such as polycarbonate meaning less material is used to make the same products. Since they are virtually unbreakable they don’t have to be replaced as often, which also contributes to a better environment.

Is tritan BPA free?

Yes, tritan is free of bisphenol-A (BPA).

How long do tritan glasses last for?

Our plastic drinkware is virtually unbreakable. It has a longer life span than real glass which dramatically reduces re-order frequency.

Will the glasses get scratched?

The glasses are highly scratch resistant and have proven more scratch resistant than polycarbonate glasses in several performance tests. However, just like traditional glasses, they will scratch over time through general wear and tear. If you drop the glasses against a hard or abrasive surface, or hit them against different surfaces, they may scratch.

How do I care for plastic drinkware?

For best results wash the glasses in warm soapy water in a dishwasher (top rack only). Avoid contact with abrasive brushes when washing the glasses, as this may lead to scratches on the surface of the glass.

What is your return policy?

We will replace faulty products up to 6 months after purchase, provided evidence of the fault is provided.

Can the glasses be used in the refrigerator and freezer?

All of our products are refrigerator and freezer safe which makes them suitable for chilling.
